Dry Needling Techniques

What are dry needling techniques?

Dry needling is a technique for treating muscles that uses fine, thin needles that are carefully placed into a ‘trigger point’ within a muscle. A trigger point is found as a very sensitive regionwithin a tight band within the affected muscle or muscles that is felt during examination. The aim of trigger point dry needling is to release tight muscles with the goal of reducing muscle resting tension, spasm, pain and dysfunctions.  Placing the needle aims to produce a ‘twitch response’ at the site in order to release muscle tension, decrease pain and deactivate the trigger point to restore normal muscle length.
